American Realty and Captiva Cruises are promoting the next generation of marine life and shelling for an environmental education field trip program that provides a hands-on opportunity for children to experience the coastal environment.
No Child Left On Shore was started in 2010 by Paul McCarthy, founder of Captiva Cruises, along with former educator in The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) Richard Finkel.
Captiva Cruises approaches SCCF approximately ten years ago and proposed joining forces to offer these No Child Left On Shore field trips. They also partnered in many community and educational endeavors over the past thirty years and this seemed like a perfect fit as it targets a segment of the Southwest Florida community that is underserved.
Due to cuts to School field trips, economic, social, physical, and other barriers, a lot of the youth of Southwest Florida do not have the opportunity to learn about our coastal environment by actually experiencing the shoreline habitats through a hands-on learning opportunity.
